Finding 2009 Peoria Chiefs

Now that we have the Chiefs 2010 roster, where did some of the 2009 Chiefs land?

High-A Daytona: A search of the Daytona Cubs website tells us that Chris Archer, Alberto Cabrera, Chris Huseby, Mike Perconte, Aaron Shafer and Chris Siegfried are pitchers for the 2010 Florida State League squad. Michael Brenly, Josh Vitters, Junior Lake, Kyler Burke, Brett Jackson, DJ LeMahieu, David Macias and Nelson Perez are on the position player side. Other former Chiefs on the Daytona roster include Marwin Gonzalez, Dae-Eun Rhee and Mark Reed. Rebel Ridling and Justin Bristow are injured and expected to join Daytona eventually.

AA Tennessee: The Smokies have still not released a roster according to their website but it looks as if Austin Bibens-Dirkx, Ryan Buchter and Ryan Flaherty will skip Daytona and head to Double-A. I think that Tony Campana is also on the Tennessee roster after finished last season with Daytona.

Among the other players who were injured either late last season, in the off-season or during spring training and are not on Opening Day rosters are 2009 pitchers Chris Carpenter, Marcus Hatley and Manolin DeLeon. Among those released in the off-season or spring training were Robert Bautista, Erik Hamren, Josh Whitlock, Jose Made and Robert Hernandez. Drew Rundle is now a pitcher staying at Extended Spring Training and he could pitch for the Chiefs in 2010 but will likely report to Boise when their season begins in June.
