Welcome to Peoria!

Happy Easter. And as a present we have a roster for you. The full roster is here in a PDF form or you can read the whole write up from the Chiefs website.

I was intrigued to see that 18 of the 26 guys on the roster are on twitter and most appear to be active. That will make for a fun season Social Media wise and with interaction. Here are those twitter handles along with one note on each player:

Mike Aldrete @Algretsky22 – Son of Cardinals bench coach Mike Aldrete
Corey Baker @Cabaker8 – Faced 208 batters in 2012 as a pro and allowed 0 home runs
Joe Cuda @JCuda24 – 24th player ever drafted out of Eckerd College in Florida
Joe Donofrio @bagofritos – Played in 2011 CWS with Cal. Double major in Economics & American Studies
Kyle Helisek @KTH_23 – Threw 6th most innings in Villanova history
Kurt Heyer @KurtHeyer – Helped Arizona to last year’s College World Series Championship
Tyrell Jenkins @TyrellJenkins14 – Recruited to Baylor as a quaterback
Nick Martini @NickMartini26 – Native of Crystal Lake, IL where he led Prairie Ridge to the 2008 IHSA 4A state title
Zach Petrick @Zach_Petrick – From Morris, IL. Brother Billy pitched for Cubs. 
Casey Rasmus @CaseYRasmuS – Great arm, threw out 47% on bases in QC last year. Brother Colby is on Toronto
Joe Scanio – @smokinjoescanio – St. Louis native who pitched at same HS (Hazelwood West) as ex-Chief Kyle McClellan
Jeremy Schaffer @jschaff8 – 2nd player in Tulane history to be All-Conference USA three straight years
Charlie Tilson @Tilson4 – Played in IHSA State finals with New Trier HS. Missed all of 2012 (shoulder injruy). Has only 27 pro AB
Ildemaro Vargas – @Ildemaro_Tigre – Finished 3rd in the Appalachian League in batting (.322) last season
Jordan Walton @jwal1b – D3 All-American each of the last two seasons at Randolph-Macon College
David Washington @DavidWa2hingt8n – Has hit nine home runs in each of his last two Short-Season campaigns
Jacob Wilson @jcwilson09 – Hit most HR in a season (17) at University of Memphis since Dan Uggla hit 18 in 2001
Wisdom @PatrickWisdom5  – Top 10 on St. Mary’s career lists in HR, 2b and RBI.

And here are some notes on the eight players without twitter.

Hector Hernandez – Pitched for Quad Cities last season, going 1-0 in three starts against the Chiefs
Dixon Llorens – Drafted out of Miami Dade CC and had an offer to play at South Carolina instead of signing with St. Louis
Alex Mejia – Teamed with Heyer to win CWS at Arizona but missed most of pro season with a knee injury
Jhonny Polanco – Native of Nicaragua, posted a 1.91 ERA in 15 games/7 starts last year in GCL Rookie ball
Michael Swinson – Played in 49 games in QC in 2010 and 93 in 2011.
Breyvic Valera – Played three games in AA-Springfield last season before the Batavia season began
Gerwuins Velazco – Hit .343 at Johnson City last year but didnt have enough At-bats to qualify for batting title
Dail Villanueva – Made 23 starts for Quad Cities last season going 2-1 against the Chiefs in three starts.
