April 9 Game Notes, Lineup & Photos

Nate%27s Stat Line (3)Tonight we are getting ready for home game #2 and overall game #6 as the Chiefs go for back to back wins against Dayton. Thus far in 2014 the Chiefs have alternated wins and losses and hopefully that ends tonight as Arturo Reyes makes his first start and second appearance. We saw the 2013 40th round pick out of the pen for two innings on Opening Night on Thursday in Wisconsin as he picked up the win.

You’ll see some additions to the chart to the right here. Having some fun with my Mountain Dew (And Diet Dew) intake plus I had to have the new Dozer Dog (Foot long, all beef corn dog) and wow was it fantastic.

Here are the Game Notes for Wednesday night’s contest and we have a few changes to the lineup from yesterday as well. Joe Kruzel’s squad will lineup tonight as follows:

CJ McElroy Jr. CF
Mason Katz 2B

Carson Kelly DH
Ronald Castillo RF
Steve Bean C
Juan Herrera SS
Jake Stone 1B
Jimmy Bosco LF
Michael Schulze 3B
Arturo Reyes RHP

The Chiefs will face RHP Nick Travieso tonight. In his debut against West Michigan on Thursday he allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings and received a no decision. He struck out three and walked two as the Dragons lost 5-4.Travieso made 17 starts for Dayton in 2013 going 7-4 with a 4.63 ERA. He struck out 61 and walked 27 in 81 2/3 innings of work. He joined the Dragons at the end of May and allowed one earned run or less in five of his final eight starts of the season. Travieso tossed six scoreless innings giving up only three hits in his fifth win of the season on July 25. Travieso struck out a season-high seven in his fifth win on July 6 with one run allowed on four hits and a walk.  The Reds drafted Travieso as the 14th overall pick in the 2012 draft by the Cincinnati Reds out of Archbishop McCarthy HS (FL). He is ranked by both MLB.com and Baseball America as the Reds #8 prospect. In high school he won a Florida 6A State Championship in 2010, 2011 and 2012 after transferring from American Heritage High School. The right-hander signed a national letter of intent to pitch at the University of Miami before being drafted by the Reds. Travieso is the grandson of Cuban immigrants and also played hockey as a youngster. He has never faced the Chiefs or a Cardinals affiliate.

Our team photographer Dennis Sievers got some great shots last night. Of the 111 images captured here are about 20 for you to enjoy in a gallery. Thanks for reading and look for a post-game recap this evening!
