Rise and Shine, Wednesday Game Notes

Up bright and early with some coffee and breakfast, we are ready for an 11:00 am series finale here in Beloit where it is currently 39 degrees and windy. However they just took the tarp off the field which is a good sign. Here are today’s GameNotes IMG_2818and here is the Wednesday lineup to the right.

The Chiefs finished April at 15-9, the best opening month since the 2003 team went 16-9. Here are the winning April’s by year in franchise history

10-6 – 1983
11-6 – 1984
10-9 – 1985
10-6 – 1986
18-6 – 1989
11-9 – 1996
15-8 – 1997
13-7 – 1999
18-6 – 2002
16-9 – 2003
11-9 – 2004
12-11 – 2006
12-9 – 2007
11-8 – 2009
14-8 – 2010
12-10 – 2011
13-8 – 2013
15-9 – 2014

So as you can see the Chiefs have 18 winning April’s, two at .500 and 12 losing April’s. The Chiefs finished April batting .257 (5th – MWL), with a 4.09 ERA (10th) and a .970 fielding percentage (5th). The Chiefs had the 2nd best batting average with runners in scoring position at .296 and the pitching with RISP was 5th best holding opponents to a .237 average. That high RISP average gave the Chiefs the 2nd lowest left on base  tally at 160.

The Chiefs have Ronald Castillo 3rd in RBI (18) and 10th in average (.325). Cesar Valera would be 7th in average at .328 but he doesn’t have enough PA to qualify. Nick Petree is 2nd in ERA (1.29). Mason Katz is 5th in RBI (17) while Carson Kelly leads the league with 3 SF and is also 3rd in most PA per strikeout at 14.00. Juan Herrera is 4th in PA/K at 12.67.

Here are some photos from around Pohlman Field. The Chiefs return June 4-6.
