Hello from Clinton with Game Notes/Lineup
On the road again as we are now in Clinton, Iowa where fortunately we are in a new hotel. No more Super 8 with no food options around it and now we are at newer and nicer Oak Tree Inn with a Super Wal-Mart, Target, Kohl’s and plenty of food options in Applebee’s, Pizza Hut, Maid-Rite, Chinese Buffet, Subway, Burger King and a couple gas stations for plenty of food options. There’s also a movie theater next door but with three night-games this week that likely won’t be a factor for the guys or staff this week. But still, location of a hotel can be fantastic on a road trip and this is a nice improvement.
The rooms have a microwave and fridge (at least mine does) so when Mike Petrarca (Athletic Trainer) and Lance Thomason (Strength Coach) took off to Wal-Mart right after we arrived to get all the clubhouse food I tagged along to get a couple dinners and lunches to store in the fridge. Mike and Lance always make Wal-Mart runs and they attacked the aisles with precision to completely fill the cart with nutritious food, lunch meat, mile, bread, yogurt, protein bars, fruit, etc for the guys to eat in the clubhouse the next three days here in Clinton. They do this every road trip and have it down to a science.
The team is getting ready for BP today here at Ashland University Field and the temperature is in the 70s though we do have a 60% chance of rain this evening. Here are today’s Game Notes with Silfredo Garcia on the mound against Clinton RH Lars Huijer. The Chiefs full lineup is here:
Tonight’s game starts at 6:30 here in Clinton, a place where the Chiefs struggled in 2013, losing three games on walk-off hits. Follow on twitter on listen online (also on the MiLB Apps, Tune-In Radio or the Chiefs App).
Here are the YouTube highlights from last night’s game, a 5-3 loss to Beloit.
