Wednesday’s Org Report and Former Chief Update

Not a single team in the Cardinal organization lost on Wednesday. The parent club threw their third shutout victory in a row as they blanked the Rays 1-0. Adam Wainwright tossed seven shutout innings and a solo home run by Matt Holiday would be all they needed. Here is Holliday’s homer:

Memphis had plenty of offense in their 7-4 victory over Tacoma. Matt Adams got his first hit during his two-game rehab stint going one for four on the night with a run scored. Scott Moore drove in two and had two doubles in four at-bats. Former Chief Zach Petrick received a no decision after allowing four runs off seven hits and striking out three over four and a third innings of work. Here is the game recap.

Crazy game down in Springfield, MO as the Cardinals needed only two hits to beat division-leading Tulsa. This was courtesy of  an 11 strikeout performance from Sam Gaviglio, who came into the game with a team-high eight losses. Jonathan Rodriguez registered the first hit of the night for the Cardinals with a seventh inning solo blast to knot the game at one. Former Chief Jacob Wilson, who has been on an absolute tear, crushed his second homer in as many days as Springfield got the walk-off victory 2-1. Check out Springfield’s Game Story.

Palm Beach won their eighth in a row with ease, beating Bradenton 9-3. Huge day for Former Chief hitters on Palm Beach as they combined to go 14-37 with two doubles, three home runs, and six RBI. Former Chief Kyle Helisek was extremely effective on the mound allowing only two runs off three hits, and struck out five over seven innings pitched. Former Chief Ildemaro Vargas was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, cranking out his first home run of the season and producing three RBI.

Justin Bour and Junior Lake had the only multi-hit games for Former Chiefs in the majors on Tuesday. Bour was three for five with two runs scored while Lake was two for five with two runs scored. Former Chief Josh Harrison made a fantastic diving stop at third, seen below:
