Friday’s Org Report and Former Chiefs Update
The parent club got a crucial 3-1 win over the Dodgers to remain only five and a half games back of first in the NL Central. The bullpen pitched exceptionally well, as Seth Maness picked up the win after tossing two and a third shutout innings with two punch-outs. Former Chief Yadier Molina launched his seventh homer of the season in the fourth to knot the game at one. Here is the long ball:
Memphis blew a three-run lead in the eighth and went on to lose to Round Rock 9-8. Joe Kelly made his first rehab start for Memphis, allowing two runs off two hits in two innings pitched. Former Chief Joe Donofrio came in and recorded a strikeout in the eighth inning. Stephen Piscotty launched his fifth homer of the season along with three RBI on the night. Below is the homer:
Springfield cruised to a 6-2 victory over Corpus Christi as Jonathan Cornelius picked up his seventh win of the year. Mike O’Neill was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle while producing his 20th RBI of the year. Former Chiefs David Popkins and Patrick Wisdom each had two-hit nights. Here is the Game Story.
Palm Beach had their three-game win streak snapped after losing to Charlotte 10-5. Former Chief Nick Martini was three for four with a double and a RBI while former Chief Kyle Barraclough was the only Palm Beach pitcher to not allow a run. State College got their tenth win of the season after beating Williamsport 5-2. Former Chief Robelys Reyes went three for five while crossing the plate twice. The GCL Cardinals had an amazing comeback victory to beat the GCL Mets. They scored seven unanswered runs in the eighth inning to win the game 7-3. Ricardo Bautista blasted a grand slam to cap the comeback; it was his first professional home run.
Former Chief Brandon Guyer had a huge game at the plate for Tampa Bay in their 5-2 win over Baltimore. Guyer was three for three with three doubles and a RBI. Former Chief Josh Donaldson legged a RBI triple to add to his three total RBI in Oakland’s win over Miami.
