Saturday’s Org Report and Former Chiefs Update
It wash’t pretty for the Cardinals in L.A. as the Dodgers blew them out 9-1. The Cardinals could only manage four hits on the night while Lance Lynn could not contain the loaded Dodger lineup. On a bright note, Nick Greenwood pitched very well in relief of Lynn. He tossed four scoreless innings giving up only three hits and striking out one. Here is the Game Recap.
Former Chief Nick Petree was fantastic for Palm Beach in his start. He tossed five shutout innings giving up only two hits, walking one, and striking out six. However, Petree would receive a no decision after the bullpen blew two different leads allowing a two-run bottom of the ninth as Palm Beach fell 3-2. Former Chief Alex Mejia was the only offense as he went two for four with a double and two RBI.
State College would lose to Williamsport 8-4, but the big news was Rowan Wick’s homer in the sixth inning. Wick has now tied the State College record for home runs in a season with 10; we are only 16 games into the New York-Penn League season. Wick has been extremely fun to watch as he powers State College to a current tie for first place in the Pinckney Division. Check out the Game Story.
The GCL Cardinals suffered their second loss of the year after losing to the GCL Mets 7-2. Malik Collymore drilled his first homer of the year along with a triple and two RBI in the loss.
Former Chief DJ LeMahieu was two for four with a two-run single in the Rockies 7-4 loss to the Brewers. Former Chief Albert Pujols sparked the red-hot Angels to a 6-2 victory over the Royals by going two for five with 2 RBI.
