Monday’s Org Report and Former Chiefs Update

Adam Wainwright tossed another gem for St. Louis on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He tossed seven shutout innings allowing seven hits, three walks, and struck out five, but received a no decision. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning when Matt Adams launched a walk-off homer, his 10th of the year, to beat the Pirates 2-0 and move to only four games back of first in the NL Central. Memphis had a walk-off of their own as Luis Mateo drove home the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth to cap the 2-1 comeback for Memphis over division-leading Nashville. Former Chief Zach Petrick allowed only one run off off six hits, walked none, and struck out six in seven innings of work. Check out the Game Story.

Springfield was locked in a pitcher’s duel with San Antonio that went into extras. Mike O’Neill delivered the game-winning RBI double in the 11th to propel Springfield to a 3-2 victory. Former Chief Mike Mayers allowed two runs off five hits, walked none, and struck out five in seven innings of work. Former Chiefs David Popkins and Patrick Wisdom both produced a RBI. State College notched a narrow 3-2 victory over Auburn. Nick Thompson drilled a three-run home run in the seventh, his second homer of the year. Former Chief Jake Stone was one for four with a double. Check out the Game Recap.

Johnson City got blown out 15-7 by the Twins affiliate Elizabethton. Casey Turgeon was three for four while crossing the play three times. Read about it in the Game Story.

The GCL Cardinals finally lost after a fantastic seven-game win streak. Catcher Joshua Lopez was one for four with a double and two RBI on the day.

Former Chief Marwin Gonzalez legged a three-run triple in Houston’s blow out win over Texas on a one for four night with two runs scored.
